OIL ON DESTIN BEACH, FLORIDA

What mother in her right mind would let her child play in oil on the beach? The child even becomes frantic when she finds oil on her feet.

This really brings my spirits down. I wish this could just end already.

PUBLIC TRANSIT SAVES YOU THOUSANDS

Personally, I am not a huge fan of driving because for one, there are way too many traffic rules and so I've accumulated massive tickets during my stint in driving. And two, I'm a treehugger .. duh.

However, living in North Carolina for most of my life, we weren't able to take the "metro". All there is in my part of NC are buses. So now that I've moved to DC, I am all too excited to take the metro. Call me a dork, but it's fun for me.

Driving the metro..
I can avoid tickets.
I don't feel personally too guilty for pumping gas at the devil oil companies.
It's soooo much better on the environment.
I save money!

Check out this list I found on how much money eat city saves for riding public transit. BOOM!

Rank City Monthly Savings Annual Savings
1 New York $1,159 $13,906
2 Boston $1,040 $12,481
3 San Francisco $1,026 $12,309
4 Chicago $955 $11,463
5 Seattle $946 $11,346
6 Philadelphia $934 $11,203
7 Honolulu $902 $10,824
8 Los Angeles $847 $10,163
9 San Diego $834 $10,009
10 Minneapolis $828 $9,938
11 Portland $811 $9,736
12 Denver $811 $9,727
13 Cleveland $808 $9,701
14 Baltimore $789 $9,465
15 Washington, DC $759 $9,107
16 Miami $756 $9,067
17 Dallas $736 $8,834
18 Las Vegas $726 $8,712
19 Atlanta $725 $8,694
20 Pittsburgh $685 $8,218

WHY , SARAH PALIN , DO YOU EVEN EXIST????

I just cannot help myself. I am flabbergasted at the views on the environment coming from Sarah Palin;
  • Sue US government to stop listing polar bear as endangered. (Aug 2008)
  • Don’t duplicate effort in monitoring cruise ship emissions. (Oct 2006)
  • Opposed protections for salmon from mining contamination. (Aug 2008)
  • We must encourage timber, mining, drilling, & fishing. (Jan 2008)
  • I do support capping carbon emissions. (Oct 2008)
  • Global warming affects Alaska, but is not man-made. (Aug 2008)
  • Convinced McCain to drill offshore. (Jul 2008)
  • Sues federal EPA for misusing Endangered Species Act. (Jan 2009)
  • More pipelines; more nukes; more coal; more alternatives. (Sep 2008)
  • Lift moratorium on offshore drilling. (Jul 2008)

Besides the environment
  • No white flag of surrender on Iraq. (Oct 2008)
  • We don’t know what the plan is to ever end the war. (Aug 2008)

WHERE DID YOU COME FROM?! WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH US?!?!!!

and the list goes on! Check out the rest of her view here

BP ISN'T THE ONLY OIL DEVIL MAKING NEWS !

Apparently, the BP oil spill has been overshadowing other oil company injustices. Chevron has a long history of voilating basic human rights while devastating and killing the Earth and PEOPLE. Chevron is totatlly violating the natives of Ecuador. They have been deliberately dumping millions and millions of HIGHLY toxic waste into their river streams where the native eat, drink and bathe from. Thousands of natives have been killed, babies have been born with birth defects, air and water have been polluted to the point of no return and more!

This is WORST than the BP OIL SPILL.

And the worst part about it is Chevron wont even own up to it or even apologize. Chevron is being sued by the native people of Ecuador and even have the audacity to fight the court case.

The amount of injustices are completely saddening. Its terrifying at the lack that people have for other people's basic human rights and their lack of carrying for the environment.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD TODAY ?!!!????!!!!

BP CEO TONY HAYWARD ON A YACT VACATION?

Dear America,
KISS. MY. ASS.

Sincerely,
BP

That is essentially what BP CEO Tony Hayward is saying. While 125 million gallons of crude oil has been spewing into the Gulf of Mexico, Tony Hayward felt the need to take his private jet back to England towatch his yacht in a yacht competition. Is this real life? This guy is literally thumbing his nose at Americans and the Gulf Coast. This is living proof that TONY HAYWARD COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE OIL SPILL. Don't cry of spill .. oil. Isn't that how it goes?

In the words of Rep. Eliot Engel of New York to Tony Hayward, "I am thoroughly disgusted."

I couldn't have said it better myself.

smh

KEVIN COSTNER; SAVIOUR TO THE GULF

So apparently Kevin Costner has a solution to the oil spill. He and his scientist brother have been working on 32 oil and water separator for for the past 15 years. The largest of the machines can separate 200 gallons of oil from water in one single minute with the water being 99% free of oil. The machine then stores the oil into a tank.

"We legislated lifeboats and first aid kits. It seems logical that as long as the oil industry profits from the sea, they have the legal obligation to protect it, except when they find themselves fighting for life and limb."

Really BP? I'm going to need for you to pick you face up from off of the ground. Did an ACTOR really just give somewhat of a solution to this catastrophic problem that YOU created? Why didn't one of BP's engineers think of this? This isn't even Kevin Costner's profession but he has an answer that is better than anything BP is doing. Lets take a look;

So far BP has
1) Tried to stuff junk filled with trash and hair into the blowout in order to "stomp it up".
2) Place a cap over the blowout to capture water.
3) Barricade beaches so that the oil would not reach the surface.

THANK YOU, KEVIN COSTNER. So far, you are the only logical thinking party in this oil spill disaster. Kevin Costner also invested $20million of his OWN money in efforts to battle the oil spill.

OBAMA'S REMARKS AFTER MEETING WITH BP OFFICIALS

After meeting with with BP officials, Obama has this to say;

I just concluded a constructive meeting with BP's chairman, Carl-Henric Svanberg. I raised two issues at the meeting. First was the containment of the oil that is still spewing into the Gulf. My administration has directed BP to mobilize additional equipment and technology. In the coming days and weeks, these efforts should capture up to 90% of the oil leaking out of the well.

That is still not good enough. We will continue to press BP and draw on our best minds and resources to capture the rest of the oil until the company finishes drilling a relief well later in the summer that is expected to stop the leak completely.

I also raised the issue of claims. As I've traveled across the Gulf Coast, I've heard growing frustration over the pace at which claims have been paid. I've also heard concerns about whether BP will make resources available to cover legitimate claims resulting from this disaster.

So, this discussion today was essential. Currently, under federal law, there is a $75 million cap on how much oil companies could under certain circumstances be required to pay for economic damages resulting from spills such as this.

That amount would clearly be insufficient. That is why I am pleased to announce that BP has agreed to set aside $20 billion to pay claims for damages resulting from this spill. This $20 billion amount will provide substantial assurance that the claims people and businesses have will be honored. And it is not a cap. The people of the Gulf have my commitment that BP will meet its obligations to them.

BP has publicly pledged to make good on the claims it owes to people in the Gulf. And so, the agreement we reached will set up the financial and legal framework in which to do it.

Another important element is that this $20 billion will not be controlled by either BP or by the government. It will be put in an escrow account, administered by an impartial, independent third party.

If you or your business has suffered an economic loss as a result of this spill, you will be eligible to file a claim for part of this $20 billion. This fund will not supersede individuals' or states' rights to present claims in court. BP will also continue to be liable for the environmental disaster it caused, and we will continue to work to make sure they address it. Additionally, BP voluntarily agreed to establish a $100 million fund to compensate unemployed oil rig workers affected by the closure of other deep water rigs.

We have mutually agreed that Ken Feinberg will run the independent claims process we are putting in place, and there will be a three-person panel to adjudicate claims that are turned down. Every effort will be made to expedite claims. Ken has long experience in such matters, including running the fund that compensated victims of 9/11. And I am confident he will ensure that claims are administered as quickly, fairly, and transparently as possible.

BP's liabilities for this spill are significant. They acknowledge that fact. And we will continue to hold BP and all other responsible parties accountable. I'm absolutely confident BP will be able to meet its obligations to the Gulf Coast and to the American people. BP is a strong and viable company and it is in all our interests that it remains so. This is about accountability. At the end of the day, that's what every American wants and expects.

The structure we are establishing today is an important step toward making the people of the Gulf Coast whole again, but it will not turn things around overnight. And I want all Americans to know that I will continue to fight each and every day until the oil is contained, until businesses recover, and until the Gulf Coast bounces back from this tragedy – as I know it will. Thank you.

I give him two thumbs up. However, actions speak louder than words. Hopefully everything follows through

DON'T MISS IT!

OIL SPILL PARODY

Oh wow , this is super funny .. but true .

UPDATE!

According to a USA Today poll, 71% of Americans want Obama to be tougher on BP for their oil spill incident. Obama's ratings on his handling of the oil spill has gotten a little worse despite his harsh language to BP.

SOOOO .. WHATS GOING ON?

The senate is demanding that BP establishes a fund of $20 BILLION to compensate victims of the oil spill and to clean up their mess. The language of this document is far from sympathetic to BP. I say this deserves a round of applause. *circular clap*

And the $20 billion is only the first step. More money as needed will most likely be needed to compensate and clean up. Check out the full document here

Dear BP,

Here is your ass on a platter.
ahahaaa

And also,

Obama is making his 4th trip down to the Gulf today. He was geared up in a casual outfit ready for work. No tie. He'll be hitting Mississippi, Florida and Alabama. Don't forget to watch him speak on this matter TOMORROW at 8PM.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

I've always wondered,

does extracting oil from the the Earth, whether it be from on land or under seas, have some underlying direct effect to the Earth that we have yet to discover?

Be it earthquakes, land slides, sinkholes .. whatever. There must be some kind of damage (besides those apparent) to the Earth from taking a natural resource that is so deep within the Earth.

*shrug*

Just a thought. If you have some ideas, comment and let me know

BP CEO's Absurd Excuse For Sick Workers

Food poisoning? Seriously? Day by day we see how ridiculous BP is and the disregaurd for not only the environment but THEIR WORKERS! The clean up crews are getting sick from the massive amounts of crude oil they are being exposed to but BP just simply disregaurds the problem and write it off as FOOD POISONING! Really, BP? I shouldn't be surprised because this is the SAME company claiming that the oil spill leakage was only minimal when in actuallity, it's millions of gallons leaking.

*rolls eyes*

Did they neglect to realize that people are comparing this oil spill to the Exxon Valdez oil spill where workers are STILL to this day struggling with health issues over cleaning up Exxon's oil spill.

What's the problem?? No admission of guilt? They don't want to add endangering people to destroying the environment? Well, then so be it. I hope EVERY worker plans on a sueing the crap out of BP.

I've been thinking about going down to the Gulf myself. Maybe i'll get sick too and hit the lottery? Yo BP, share the wealth of you millions of dollars profits!

VEGETARIANS BEWARE !

There is a scare going around about whether or not seafood is safe to eat being that there is a massive oil spill going on in the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf of Mexico fisheries are home to 59 percent of U.S. oyster production and three-quarters of the country's wild shrimp.

should you be worried?
Apparently, no. Seafood is been throughly examined by trained and professional .. noses. Basically, what they do to watch for oil is that they smell the food caught. Basically, sniffing out the oil. Oil has a very distinctive strong smell so if oil is in the fish, it would be clearly detected. So scientists and professionals are claiming that we have nothing to worry about.

I only eat chicken and fish so seafood is my absolute favorite food BUT will I be eating seafood? I don't know chief! I'll probably eat seafood for a couple more weeks until I assume it's probably time to restock but after that, no thank you. I may try the "vegan" diet for a while. Or stick to my chicken. I don't know how trustworthy the government can be.

*shrug*

To each his own.

Here is the FDA report since April 30,2010
" Although crude oil has the potential to taint seafood with flavors and odors caused by exposure to hydrocarbon chemicals, the public should not be concerned about the safety of seafood in the stores at this time.

Earlier this week, the state of Louisiana opened some commercial zones to shrimping ahead of the regular season, to allow fishermen to harvest before the oil reached those zones; however, the State has since closed some of those zones to shrimping based on the location and movement of the oil spill.

YOU DIDN'T KNOW??

According to many news sites and satellite photos, there is a SECOND oil spill in Ocean Saratoga! Luckily this spill isn't at the alarming rate and volume as the Gulf of Mexico oil spill however, still unacceptable. This oil rig is about 10 miles off the coast of southern Louisiana and is owned by Taylor Energy however, this well was once owned by BP according to Examiner. This oil spill seems to be leaking 14 gallons of oil per day.

However, then again, some are denying the oil spill.

Any off shore drilling supporters out here???

VOTE NO TO "DIRTY AIR ACT"

Hey!

So sorry I have not been posting as much. With this move to DC and starting my internship with 1Sky, its been really hectic so i've be a little busy. I promise I wont neglect you anymore though!

Let's get down to business.

You all know about the oil spill going on. However, you may not know that there is vote going on in Washington, DC that will be taking place tomorrow dealing with the "Dirty Air Act" resolution. PLEASE CALL YOUR SENATORS! CALL, EMAIL, FAX and tell them to VOTE NO for this resolution PLEASE. Our environment depends on this!!!

CLICK HERE TO TAKE ACTION NOW and also CALL, FAX && EMAIL !!

check out this motivating video by 1Sky's lovely campaign direction Gillian Caldwell.

Crucial call to action to save the Clean Air Act from 1skycampaign on Vimeo.

CLICK HERE TO TAKE ACTION NOW and also CALL, FAX && EMAIL !!

Ok so, the "Dirty Air Act" is sponsored by this horrid women Senator Lisa Murkowski. Basically, what she wants to do is weaken the ability of the EPA's ability to regulate the amount of pollution in the air. Sen. Murkowski is sponsored by dirty coal and petroleum companies who she accepts hundreds of thousands of dollars from. Actually, she is ranked number 3 among senators accepting the most money from petroleum companies. So we obviously know why she is campaigning so hard for them to continue to pollute as they please.

CLICK HERE TO TAKE ACTION NOW and also CALL, FAX && EMAIL !!

It is absolutely ridiculous to let this vote pass in mist of such a huge catastrophe. DO NO LET THE OIL COMPANIES GET AWAY WITH THEIR POLLUTION. If this vote passes, that is exactly what will happen.

CLICK HERE TO TAKE ACTION NOW and also CALL, FAX && EMAIL !!

check out this Murkowski protest!
